Great product

perfect replacement for an old and rusty return air filter grille. I was able to remove the old frame and install the new grille in about half an hour. I also love that it is a quality product and is a good weight. The door is removable to clean. Also, my preference is the little levers on this model instead of the ones that slide. We are very happy with this grille.

Great Upgrade, But Plan for Extra Hardware

This grille arrived in excellent shipping packaging, featuring heavy-duty black plastic corner covers that kept the metal completely secure and protected it from bending or getting dinged in transit. It is a very nice cosmetic upgrade if you are replacing an old, dated, or heavily painted builder-grade unit. While the steel construction isn't remarkably solid, it is definitely "good enough" for a sturdy home installation, and the crisp white finish completely modernizes the space.For the smoothest installation, I highly recommend having an impact driver, 8 white hex washer screws, a caulk gun, and some drywall caulk on hand. Make sure to follow the included instruction card, paying close attention to the steps that tell you to detach the grille door completely before starting. Taking the door off its hinges makes a massive difference for a solo ceiling install, as it keeps the heavy door from swinging in your face and allows you to easily hold the lightweight outer collar overhead while driving your screws. Keep in mind that the manufacturer only includes 4 screws, even though the frame has 12 total hole options. To get a secure, rattle-free fit, I skipped the vertical face holes entirely and used my impact driver to secure 8 matching white hex washer screws horizontally into the side framing.The design features on this unit are fantastic. The door latches are incredibly smooth and easy on the fingertips, making the routine chore of changing the air filter effortless compared to older models. Best of all, the door is completely interchangeable; you can easily unhook the hinges and flip the door 180 degrees to face the fins away from your common sightlines, perfectly hiding the inner filter from view. The generous outer flange also provides a nice overhang all the way around to mask any ugly drywall gaps left behind by the old frame. As a final step, taking a few minutes to run a bead of drywall caulk exclusively around the outer frame where it borders the drywall completely changes the game. It seals any micro-gaps to prevent dark dust tracks over time and visually integrates the grille right into the ceiling for a flawless, professional finish.Cons is the price was steep and I had to wait a long time on shipping. However the end result is good.

Makes Replacing my Filter Super Easy and Looks Great!

I live in a small condo, and trying to change my furnace filter in the small space between the furnace and water heater was difficult. My HVAC guy suggested replacing the air intake grille with a filter grille. Definitely one of the best suggestions I received for maintaining my furnace.This air filter grille is very sturdy, no bend to it, easy to open and replace the filter. The airflow in the vent openings is the same as my old grille, but now with a filter installed. (Be sure to check MERV ratings on the filters you buy). Cleaning should not be a problem, as it is easy to get to on the wall outside the utility room. It looks so much better than the old grill, which had the openings vertically which allowed you to see inside an ugly hole in the wall. (see photo, excuse the mess, getting flooring replaced.)I measured as directed, and it fit tightly inside the duct opening. This is definitely one of my most useful purchases. I would highly recommend it.
