Steel Supply Registers for Floors, Walls and Ceilings

Steel HVAC supply registers deliver conditioned air into a room through a durable stamped-steel face with an adjustable damper behind it. AirGrilles stocks steel supply registers across 4 styles, flat, adjustable, curved-blade, and toe-kick, in 2 colors, black and white, for wall, floor, and ceiling openings. Each register is sized by the duct opening, and airflow comes in 5 patterns: 1-way, 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, and adjustable. Bulk pricing runs across 6 quantity tiers with savings up to 30%, orders of 500+ units qualify for custom production, and in-stock items ship the same day on orders placed by 11AM ET.

Choosing Flat, Adjustable, or Curved-Blade Steel Registers

Steel supply registers come in four styles, each solving a different airflow problem. Flat registers give a clean, low-profile face for most walls and floors, and flat supply registers are the default when you want a fixed, tidy look. Adjustable registers add levers to aim the air, curved-blade registers throw air farther for wider room coverage, and toe-kick registers fit the tight under-cabinet spots where a standard register will not. Match the style to how the air needs to move before checking the size and damper.

Sizing and Dampers on Steel Supply Registers

A steel supply register is ordered by the duct opening, measured width by height, not by the outer cover. The outer face runs about 1-3/4 inches larger than the opening, so a 6"W x 4"H opening uses a 7-3/4"W x 5-3/4"H face that overlaps the hole. Behind that face sits the damper, the key difference from a plain grille, which opens and closes to balance or shut off airflow room by room. Widths run from 6 inches to 24 inches and heights from 4 inches to 30 inches, so confirm both the opening and the throw before ordering.

Bulk and Custom Orders

Bulk pricing on steel supply registers drops the per-unit cost across 6 quantity tiers: 1, 2-10, 11-20, 21-49, 50+, and 100+. The per-unit price falls at every tier, close to 30% off at the 50+ tier, which is why contractors reorder the same sizes, from flat faces to toe kick registers under cabinets, in volume. For orders of 500+ units, AirGrilles can support custom production depending on the product type, size, finish, and lead time. In-stock items ship the same day on orders placed by 11AM ET, keeping multi-room and whole-job orders on schedule.

Common Questions About Steel Supply Registers

These answers cover the damper, sizing, style, and ordering questions that come up most on steel supply registers.

What does the damper do on a steel supply register?

The damper opens and closes behind the face so you can reduce, shut off, or balance the airflow into a room. It is the main functional difference from a plain grille, which stays fixed. Set it room by room to fine-tune comfort after installation.

How do I size a steel supply register?

Measure the duct opening width and height, then order by that opening rather than the visible cover. The outer face is larger because it overlaps the opening, running about 1-3/4 inches bigger across the width and height. A 6"W x 4"H opening, for example, ships with a 7-3/4"W x 5-3/4"H face.

Which steel supply register style do I need?

Choose flat for a low-profile face, curved-blade for directional throw, and toe-kick for under-cabinet spaces. When you need to aim or throttle the air after installation, adjustable supply registers give you levers to set the direction. Pick the style by how the air needs to move in that specific room.

Can steel supply registers be used on floors?

Some steel supply registers are built for floor use with a walkable face, while others are meant for walls or ceilings. Check each product listing for the intended location before installing. A floor register also needs a face that can take foot traffic, so confirm that detail on the card.

What are curved-blade and toe-kick registers for?

Curved-blade registers use angled blades to throw air farther across a room, while toe-kick registers fit the low, shallow openings under cabinets. For wide coverage from a single supply point, curved blade registers push air deeper into the space than a flat face. Toe-kick models trade throw for a slim profile that fits where nothing else will.

Can steel supply registers be custom ordered?

For orders of 500+ units, custom production may be possible on eligible products depending on the size, finish, quantity, and lead time. Smaller orders ship from the in-stock range in standard sizes. Reach out with the target size and volume to confirm what a custom run would involve.
