How to Measure for This Vent

Stopped the annoying noise

Exactly what I needed to stop the annoying noise caused by the vibration of my standard metal return vent. Since installing a new furnace I am now hearing an annoying vibration noise coming from the return air vents. If I touched them the noise would stop. I tried everything, tighten/loosen add foam but nothing stopped it. This return Aluminum Eggcrate Return Air Grille did the job!

Efficient improvement.

I have two registers on either side of my couch. The current registers blew left and right, therefore 1/2 the AC & heat coming out, hitting my couch. These solved my problem and the room is much more efficiently cooled or heated.

Very nice looking and functional return air grille

When I bought my most recent home there were a few changes that I wanted to make including the replacement of a poorly installed undersized return air grill on the gas furnace door. This 20x30 Aluminum Return Air Grille was just the right size and the quality is really good. After removing the old undersized air grille I temporarily clamped this new grille into place then marked onto the door front the exact cut-out I needed to make for this new grille to fit into the door. I then used a straight edge clamped onto the face of the door right along each cut line and used an oscillating multitool to cut through the thin door skin. Once the cut-out was complete this new return air grille fit perfectly into the new opening and with just 4 screws (included) the project was complete. Very nice return air grille in my opinion.

NOTHING CHEAP HERE

This return air grill is 100% aluminum. The frame is very sturdy and strong. There is no flemsiness to this grill at all. The grill sections are about one half inch thick and formed into a screen with each corner being cut one half way through to allow the fins to cross. This is not plastic but thick and sturdy aluminum. This is maybe the heaviest return air grill I have seen in years. This grill is available in several sizes. I would highly recommend this product.

Nice grill opening but internal lip limits where it can be installed

Nicely made and finished. Appreciated the corner shipping protectors. It is aluminum so not as sturdy as steel but like the lighter weight. My old steel grill opening cover only needs 2 screws in the ends but this one is provisioned for 4 screws. Interestingly the 2 end screw locations lineup so I didn't need to make new holes - and the older steel one is from the 1970's or 80's.One issue I had though was there is a large lip all around the grill assembly in the back. It protrudes too far in my case since I'm mounting horizontally and framing passed behind in the middle of this long opening. I was able to cut back the lip to allow it to install. If you are mounting vertically or there isn't any framing behind the opening you'll be fine.
